Over the last 2 years the Widening Participation and Outreach Team have been developing a programme of community engagement in collaboration with the Children’s University. These themed activities, aimed at children and young people aged 5-13 and their families, have gained popularity and profile across the city and in February half term SHU engaged with up to 1000 people per day.
To build on the success of this activity and to support the University is its strategic objective to lead locally we will be offering the first ever Sheffield Hallam University Family Fun Day on Friday 28th July 2017 from 10am-3pm. This is in the school summer holidays to best meet the needs of the community. The event will be based at city campus (Hallam Square + inside contingency) including interactive events/activates showcasing subjects offered at SHU. It will be promoted via the Children’s University and other networks; it will also create a great opportunity for SHU staff to bring their children into the University.
