What are we doing for World Mental Health Day?

At Sheffield Hallam we’re keen to raise awareness of the issues and stigma that are associated with mental ill health and to promote positive mental health for all students and staff.  To that end we’re involved in a number of initiatives that promote positive change around mental health, and two years ago the University and Hallam Students Union signed up to the Time to Change Pledge – a national campaign that seeks to end mental health discrimination.  There are reminders of that commitment in the main buildings on both campuses, so keep an eye out for the pledge boards.  We also regularly team up with local organisations such as Sheffield Mind and get involved in city-wide events and activities that promote positive mental health and wellbeing
We’ll be running events all day that you can take part in…
10am – 3pm – you can visit our stalls in the Atrium on level 2 on City campus or the ground floor of Heart of the Campus at Collegiate. We’ve got freebies and bitesize wellbeing activities as well as tips to encourage conversations with others about mental health. Come and say hello!
12 noon – 1pm – SU officers ‘sponge event’ – more details to follow!
3pm – 5pm – come and chill out in the Common Room (upstairs at the HUBS) for CoffeeConnect. It’s an opportunity to meet people, chat and play some board games. There’s free tea, coffee and company!
These are also great examples of #connecting which you could use to enter the prize draw for The Healthy Hallam Challenge!
