The GROW Mentoring Programme has featured in Barnsley’s Community Boost, a project funded by the UK Government through the government’s UK Community Renewal Fund as one of the exciting projects on offer to help boost the growth of good employment and ensure local people access it, working closely with local people, businesses, and a variety of organisations and supporting the vision for Barnsley as a place of possibilities.
In the video Michelle Eccles, the Academic Lead for the GROW Programme, explains how the programme was designed to respond to the effects of Covid Pandemic by giving young people one-to-one mentoring with a relatable role model. Graduate Mentor Mark Tipper describes how he works with young people online and Year 10 students, Josh and Gracie talk about how they enjoyed the mentoring sessions and the value to their studies and to them personally.
