Celine Chileshe Muntuumo – Student of the Year 2019

Business Management – Botswana Accountancy College

How do you feel about being nominated for an Inspirational Student Award?

I feel very honored to be appreciated for the efforts I have been making.

What is the main thing you have learned so far while studying your degree?

I have learned leadership skills. This is because I have been a Class Representative for about 3 years and have had to lead my fellow students through the academic challenges that we went through.

What module as part of your Sheffield Hallam University degree have you enjoyed the most and why?

Sustainable and Responsible Business in the 21st Century. It helped me to realise that running a business is not simply black and white, rather, it involves many ethical decisions. I have realised that ethical business is a sustainable business.

What difference do you think graduating with a degree from Sheffield Hallam University will make to your career?

Having a degree from the UK will hopefully open up many international opportunities for me. Unlike having a local degree which will limit me to the country which I live in.

What are your career plans after completing your degree?

I plan to be employed in the human resources department of any business or work as a business consultant. In the coming years I hope to start up my own business.

How do you feel that learning from tutors from Sheffield Hallam has improved your cultural understanding and perspective?

The tutors I have are of different genders and nationalities. Each lecturer has helped me understand that not all business people have a generic way of thinking. Culture and gender have influence on the way individuals think and how they must be dealt with.

What advice would you give to someone choosing this course about your experience so far to help them decide?

My advice is that you should choose this course if you are very passionate about business. If you are not fully invested or interested in what you are studying, you will struggle to achieve the best marks possible.

What is the best thing you have experienced about studying a Sheffield Hallam degree?

Learning about international cases and not being limited to just local studies. I have been encouraged to always think internationally and this will help me when I soon enter the workforce.
