Home Office Scam – Beware!

We would like to make you aware of a recent scam.

One of our Indian students, has received a call from a number and the caller claims they work for the Home Office.

Look out for calls coming through from an 0207 telephone number. One such number was 0207 035 4848.

These calls are not from the Home Office. The caller may appear to be genuine and convincing and explain that there is a serious problem with your immigration status, and that they have a deportation order for you. They may also ask you for details of your visa.

If you believe that you received a suspicious call or e-mail, or come across a suspicious website:

  • Do not give out any personal information, or confirm that any personal information they have is correct
  • Do not make any payment
  • Report the incident to the International Student Support team
