You must attend a group session before you can book a one-to-one appointment.

It is important that you attend a group session at least 2 months before your visa is due to expire. You will be unable to get a CAS application form if you have not attended a group session.

The next group sessions will be taking place as follows:

August

  • Tuesday 18 – 10am
  • Thursday 27 – 1pm

September

  • Thursday 3 – 2pm
  • Thursday 17 – 2pm

Please come to the Student Services Centre, Level 5 Owen or Heart of the Campus to book on to a group session.

Summer of Fun in Sheffield

Summer Of Fun Booklet 2015 A5 v5_Page_01We have organised over 50 events, trips and activities this summer which will help you explore the UK and the local area.  Our day trips are open to all current students and include visits to  York, Cambridge, Newcastle and the beautiful seaside village of Whitby.  Most of the trips are only £10 and can be bought from the Hubs.

We have also organised a number of free ‘explore Sheffield’ events which will help you meet new friends and discover new places in the City.

All activities are in the ‘Summer Of Fun’ booklet which is available from Student Services Centre on level 5 of the Owen Building.

Join Culture Connect mentoring scheme

Wherever you’re from, you belong!

The aim of Culture Connect is to help new students settle into life in the UK and have a positive university experience. All current UK and international students can apply to become mentors and mentees. There will be regular training and social activities for all members.

Mentees

You may need help meeting new friends and adjusting to a new culture and social norms. Your mentor will help you integrate into the community and meet people from different countries, as well as introducing you to the wide network of support available at Sheffield Hallam University and beyond.

Mentors

We encourage students who have taken part in extracurricular activities to get involved as mentors. Culture Connect is a great way to meet new people, develop cultural awareness and gain valuable experience for your CV.

Would you like some visa advice?
If yes, then book a place on our Working in the UK after studies workshop.

We will look at all the possible visa routes for international graduates into full time work including:

• Tier 2 Scheme
• Tier 1 graduate entrepreneur
• Tier 5

The workshop will also focus on how to improve your employability and how you can make the most out of your time at Sheffield Hallam University. We will explain the visa rules and how to maximise your chances of success.

Get Involved – Social Enterprise Projects

Innovation Award
The Innovation Award is a funding opportunity for Sheffield Hallam University students and recent graduates to start or develop their own social enterprises. We run two funding rounds a year where you can apply for up to £500 under our Start Up award to test out a business idea or run a project, or you can apply for up to £2,000 through the Grow It award for an established business idea.

Balloon Kenya
Each year Sheffield Hallam Students’ have the opportunity to apply to the Balloon Kenya programme via Sheffield Hallam Students’ Union. The programme enables successful students to fly out to Kenya for 6 weeks to work with ambitious Kenyan entrepreneurs to grow businesses that change lives.

Social Enterprise Social
Sheffield Hallam Students’ Union, University of Sheffield Enterprise & Union St are collaborating to make the Social Enterprise Social happen. We bring together social entrepreneurs and anyone who is interested in it, to share ideas, be inspired and network. There are inspiring guest speakers presenting at each event, updates from key players in the sector and food and refreshments available during the evening. We’ve had over 100 people at each event and hope you will join us at the next one.
