Staff are being given an opportunity to take a look around Charles Street, the University’s newest City Campus building, before it fully opens to students on 4 April.
The £30million investment in Charles Street is part of the University’s overall aim to improve the student experience and enhance the University’s reputation. Situated on Arundel Gate it provides a home for the Sheffield Institute of Education – part of the Faculty of Development and Society – which brings together the University’s teacher education provision and education research.
Taking in seven storeys in the heart of the City Centre, the development includes a 271 seat lecture theatre, teaching rooms, learning spaces, staff spaces, cafe and reception. The innovative design also includes outside terraced areas and a specially-commissioned bridge designed by Corin Mellor, connecting Charles Street to Arundel.
This ‘open house’ event, hosted by the estates development and sustainability team, will give you the chance to visit the building and explore it at your leisure before staff begin to move in on 21 March. Whether you want to spend five minutes or two hours, you can drop in at any time between 1.30pm and 4.30pm to discover our new state-of-the-art teaching and learning environment and learn more about the building from estates colleagues.
Booking is not required, but staff are encouraged to register their interest in attending by completing the booking link below. This will give us an idea of possible numbers on the day. Everyone registering will also receive an email with further information about the event. Thank you.
