About this Event
SHU BREW 2020 is the very first free conference held in Sheffield specifically for the microbrewing community. The day aims to present beer research, business insight, promotion, packaging and marketing ideas and to create opportunities for your business by looking at collaborative ideas and funding ventures to move your business forward. There will also be a free beer tasting competition where we ask you to bring along a bottle of your best low alcoholic beer. Lunch and refreshments will also be provided.

10:30 – 10:40 Welcome by Professor Martin Howarth, director of the National Centre of Excellence for Food Engineering at Sheffield Hallam University

10:40 – 11:05 Dr Jerry Avis, CEO of the Institute of Brewing and  Distilling will give a talk on “Expanding Knowledge, Foundations and Excellence for Professional Brewers”

11:05 – 12:05 Refreshments and Tour

12:05 – 12:25  John Kirby, creative director of Sheffield Hallam University’s packaging and design consultancy group, Design Futures will talk about “Packaging Design for SME Brewers”

2:00 – 3:00 Blind beer challenge: How good is a Good Free Beer? We invite your beer to be centre stage here and ask you to bring a bottle of your best low alcohol beer for a tasting challenge

3:00 – 3:20Mark Godson, principle lecturer in marketing at Sheffield Hallam University will give a talk on “Business aspects of microbreweries, keeping it current and sustainable”
