Writing Retreats

Please note:  The majority of our writing retreats are currently being delivered online.

“This is the third retreat I have attended and I found the time very valuable. The facilitator’s considered and helpful feedback was invaluable in giving confidence to continue with my application.”

“I found it extremely useful. I really appreciated the individual feedback I got from the facilitator, and their comments were very useful. I have since used the feedback and submitted my application.”

Our online writing retreats allow you to work remotely and focus on the ongoing development of your fellowship application. One-to-one guidance and support are available online or by email on any aspect of your draft application – it could be a content discussion based on rough bullet points or comments on a fully completed draft.  If workloads do not permit a full day, then you can block out time for just a morning or afternoon or arrange a specific appointment time.

Our on-campus writing retreats provide a quiet space to focus on the ongoing development of your fellowship application, along with paper-based resources. In person guidance and support is available on any aspect of your draft application.  If workloads do not permit a full day, then come for just a morning or afternoon. Please note that you will need to bring your own laptop.

You may book onto as many online/on-campus writing retreats as you feel you need.  By blocking out time away from e-mail, meetings and other daily distractions, you can really make some progress!

These retreats run 1-2 times per month.  Further details regarding specific dates and how to book a place, can be found via the TALENT calendar or by contacting talent@shu.ac.uk

To book on to a Writing Retreat you must have attended a Development Workshop within the last 12 months and registered for the TALENT scheme.
