University Mental Health Day takes place on Thursday 2nd March and this year’s theme is Active Mental Health. The day is about student volunteers, University staff and Student Union officers working together to promote key messages relating to mental health.

The campaign gives opportunities to:

  • talk about the relationship between physical and mental health
  • build social networks through physical activity
  • inspire others to take steps to become more physically active

This year there will be table tennis tables set up at City Campus (Owen Level 2) and Collegiate Campus (Heart of the Campus).

Staff will be on hand to give information about the benefits of physical activity and how you can introduce and sustain regular physical activity in your daily life.  Why not get involved?

  • Make a pledge to get yourself going with this and put it on one of your pledge boards.
  • Pick up a pass for a free session with SHU Active.
  • Have a go on the smoothie bike at City Campus to make yourself a healthy, refreshing drink.

Take steps on 2nd March and throughout the month to become more active and improve your physical and mental health. All staff and students are welcome!

Be Active is one of the 5 Ways to Wellbeing.  To find out more about these or about the Healthy Hallam Challenge go to https://blogs.shu.ac.uk/healthyhallam/
