Student’s Union Advice Centre one of Sheffield’s Hate Crime Reporting Centres

Did you know The Advice Centre at the HUBS is one of several ‘third party reporting centres’ across the city designed to make it easier for vulnerable people to report hate crime?

Staff at the Advice Centre have been trained to provide a friendly and confidential environment for victims to report serious issues, such as race hate, disability discrimination or other criminal offences motivated by hate of people’s perceived or actual race, religion, sexual orientation, disability or gender identity.

The idea is to make it easier for people to report crimes which they might feel too scared to talk about it in more formal environments, such as at their local police station.

Crimes can be reported anonymously and details will then be passed on to the police to carry out further investigations.

Further information about the Advice Centre, including their opening times, can be found online at www.hallamunion.org/advice
