Armed forces covenant report

The South Yorkshire Armed Forces Covenant  report has now been published following a 2 year research project which was carried out by a regional partnership consisting of Sheffield City Council, Rotherham, Doncaster and Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Councils, Sheffield Hallam University and York St John University.

The project was initiated in 2017 with an aim to do the following:

  • Raise awareness of Covenant initiatives and dedicated services availability
  • Produce local authority Covenant Action Plans and a regional Action Plan
  • Enhance ownership of the process and improve connections across the region
  • Commission military awareness training for front-line staff in South Yorkshire
  • Produce the South Yorkshire model for strengthening the regional delivery of Covenant pledges, ensuring a lasting and replicable project legacy.

The Department of Law and Criminology’s Dr Katherine Albertson was a key member of the team who carried out the research, report and action plans devised that has since had praise from Dan Jarvis, MP, Mayor of Sheffield City Region.

You can find out more about the project and what the research has achieved by reading the report in full here.
