My research work at SHU is currently focused on computational intelligence for the design, development and experimental validation of computational models of human cognition in robots (autonomous motor control via mental imagery, finger counting, and number cognition), including their application to human-robot interaction in healthcare and social environments (autism therapy and diagnosis, elderly care, robot companions and co-workers).
Please follow the link below to meet Pepper the robot.
We have a very fun robot at Sheffield Hallam University, called Pepper. As you can see, this robot is not just dancing but singing too with some terrific finishing touch. Ouch scary? You bet, here at the Centre for Automation and Robotics Research (CARR) we love robots. CARR, which is part of Sheffield Robotics, http://www.sheffieldrobotics.ac.uk/, encompasses roboticists from Material and Engineering Research Institute and Cultural Communication and Computing Research Institute at Sheffield Hallam University. This dancing event took place at the ‘Fictional Human and Real Robot: Sharing Spaces with Robots’ organised by Lyuba Alboul, link to the description of the event is here: https://www.shu.ac.uk/research/specia…
