Head Post Office works on the VoIP data network, in the same way as all the other “phone” connections within the building.  If the network goes down, the phone will not work. In the  case of an emergency, Telecoms have installed a traditional type phone which does not require any logging on.  All Reception points will have these phones fitted as a matter of course due to the number of staff and visitors using the equipment.
