Harassment & Sexual Violence Research

Purpose of the proposed group
This group is interdisciplinary, cross-institutional and demonstrates clearly our strength as an applied university, connecting student engagement and wellbeing initiatives with teaching and research. Our purpose is to improve staff and student experience at Sheffield Hallam by:

  • further developing our emergent community of practice around the issue of harassment, lad culture and positive interventions to change a culture of casual sexism;
  • sharing knowledge and offering support for those undertaking work in this area;
  • co-developing teaching, training and research materials;
  • co-creating practical initiatives.
  • Objectives of the proposed group

  • working on harassment and sexual violence to create collective support;
  • Identify some key evidence-based initiatives to take forward this academic year, including exploring a victim support offer (e.g.yoga for trauma survivors);
  • Develop a sustainable training model working with student peer educators;
  • Ensure all initiatives are informed by current academic research in this area
