International Teaching Week at Sheffield Hallam University (SHU)

International Teaching Week will take place from Monday 15 May 2023 to Friday 19 May 2023.

Computing Department at Sheffield Hallam university is running the first International Teaching week (ITW) for all undergraduate and postgraduate students from STEM subjects.

Interested students must choose one of following modules which will be offered by guest lectures from our partner universities and complete the application form below.

ITW is a face-to-face event and is free for students.

 

Modules 

Module 1: Personalisation in Human-Robot Interaction

• Module Content:
o Introduction to Human-Robot Interaction
o The importance of personalizing the interaction
o Different techniques to adapt the robot’s behaviour
o Practical implementation in ROS

Module 2: Introduction to E-Commerce Analytics

•Module Content:

o Describing the architecture of e-commerce
o Using an open-source e-commerce system to setup a working shop
o Explaining different web analytics approaches and their privacy and performance goals and capabilities
o Designing and implementing a comprehensive e-commerce tracking solution

Module 3: Web Analytics and Metrics

• Module Content:

o Explain the basics of Web analytics and metrics and why data is so important in digital business
o Creating a web metrics plan, implementing web tags, and triggers (Google Tag Manager)
o Implementing and optimizing Google analytics (Google UA + GA4)
o Appreciate the power of data, design for collecting data, and methods for optimising data (Google Data Studio)

Credits: One module of study is 5 ECTS.

Lessons will be held from Monday to Friday from about 9:00 to 17:00. Assessments for the modules will take place on Friday afternoon, and modules conclude within the week.

All attendees will receive a certificate of completion.

 

Travel

There are numerous airports that international students can fly to: Manchester, East Midland, Leeds-Bradford, Birmingham, Liverpool are all within 1-1.5 hours train travel. London is 3 hours on train.

When booking travel, ensure that you arrive in Sheffield, latest on Sunday 14 May.

 

Accommodation

University student accommodations are not available during the international week, but low budget bed and breakfast options are available.

 

Visa and vaccinations

You must meet the UK visa and vaccinations requirements.

 

Who is eligible to apply

This opportunity is open to all undergraduates and postgraduate students from STEM, Management and Business subjects from Sheffield Hallam University and all over the world.
