Due to the current circumstances, the UKVI has now extended the special exceptions for affected migrants to those whose visa expires before 31 July 2020.
You must request an extension by updating your records with the Coronavirus Immigration Team (CIT) if your visa is expiring and you cannot leave the UK at present but are not planning to stay in the UK in the long term. You will be expected to return to your home country as soon as it is safe and possible to do so.
Once you receive the confirmation that your visa has been extended, please forward this to – studentimmigrationcompliance@shu.ac.uk with you student number and full name
It is very important that you do this, to ensure that your stay in the UK remains legal.
In case you will need an extension beyond 31 July due to course related reasons – additional time to complete your current course or starting a new course within 28 days of your visa expiry, please book a Skype appointment with an International Experience Adviser via My Hallam.
If you have any questions or concerns, and would like to talk to an adviser, please do get in touch! We are available for Skype drop in Monday to Friday @SHUISST (11am-12pm and 2pm-4pm), just send a message with your student number and we will call you back – no need to book!
The University support services are still available online and here to help!
