It is very important, that in these difficult time you are even more mindful of not giving into the temptation of any kind of academic malpractice. Any special measures will not remove the sanctions for plagiarism, collusion or any other form of academic misconduct – particularly contract cheating! Contract cheating refers to someone buying or commissioning (including seeking to commission) either a whole assessment or part of it, for example from internet sites, essay “banks” or “mills”. It implies a clear intention to deceive the marker and is an extremely serious form of plagiarism. It may also take the form of any student who sells or offers to sell their own assessed work to other students.
Contract cheating can be easily identified by tutors and can have very severe penalties – in some cases being removed from the course and University. Please refer to the University academic conduct regulations on My Hallam for further information.
