Due to the current circumstances, the UKVI has made some special exceptions for visa nationals in the UK whose visa expires before 31st May 2020.
You will need to contact the Coronavirus Immigration Team (CIT) by emailing CIH@homeoffice.gov.uk to update your records and visa end date. In the email you must include:
- your full name (include any middle names)
- date of birth (dd/mm/yyyy)
- nationality
- your visa type
- your previous visa reference number
- If you have a BRP this is the number on the top right of your BRP card
- If your visa is a vignette (yellow sticker) in your passport, this is the VAF number stated on the vignette
- In case you received a short term study visa stamp on arrival, this will be written on the stamp
- Details about why you can’t go back to your home country, for example if the border has closed
You should then receive an acknowledgement from CIT and will be contacted again when your visa has been extended.
Once you receive the confirmation that your visa has been extended, please forward this to – studentimmigrationcompliance@shu.ac.uk with you student number and full name
It is very important that you do this, to ensure that your stay in the UK remains legal and you can stay enrolled on your course.
In case you will need an extension beyond 31st May due to course related reasons – additional time to complete your current course or starting a new course within 28 days of your visa expiry, please book a Skype appointment with an International Experience Adviser via My Hallam.
