BA (Hons) Graphic Design, 3rd year students at Sheffield Hallam University had the amazing opportunity to experience back to back two study visits to integral establishments in the landscape of Malaysian graphic design – Malaysia Design Archive (MDA) and the Fictionist Studio.
At Malaysia Design Archive (MDA), our students were introduced to MDA’s efforts of preserving visual history and culture, through organising and sustaining an independent archive. They dove deep into a treasure trove of visual materials and absorbed the visual aesthetics of Malaysian design history. The students then made their way to the Fictionist Studio, where Joanne, Jona and Valen generously shared with the students personal details about their work and journeys as designers and also the multidisciplinary nature of their studio’s culture.
