Studying with the Faculty of Development & Society for a semester or a year will help you to build valuable transferable skills and expand your understanding of your subject area, enabling you to develop as an all-round expert with an advantage in building your career. The Faculty is made up of research-active, enthusiastic academics, many of whom are involved with effective partnerships in the public, voluntary and private sectors, and who bring this experience as well as innovative teaching to their lectures and seminars.
We welcome a wide variety of students of different nationalities, ages and professional backgrounds. Our teaching combines lectures and seminars with practical sessions, and we invite a wide range of expert guest speakers from around the world to contribute to our courses. Our diverse student population are encouraged to take responsibility for their learning through active learning, real world experiences, peer interaction, and group projects.
Sheffield is a great place to study and a very student friendly city. It has one of the highest rates of students who decide to stay on after their studies and live in the city, known as one of the United Kingdom’s ‘greenest’. Sheffield Hallam University has state of the art facilities based within the city centre, close to all major travel links, and there is a thriving international student community and a wide range of social opportunities and outdoor activities for you to explore.
