{"id":104,"date":"2021-07-29T10:28:34","date_gmt":"2021-07-29T10:28:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.shu.ac.uk\/workexperience\/?page_id=104"},"modified":"2022-09-23T12:43:22","modified_gmt":"2022-09-23T12:43:22","slug":"architecture-architectural-technology","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.shu.ac.uk\/workexperience\/natural-and-built-environment\/architecture-architectural-technology\/","title":{"rendered":"Architecture &amp; Architectural Technology"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>What are short placements for Architecture &amp; Architectural Technology?<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_xmsonormal\">The main purpose of a short placement in all areas are to\u00a0enable students to\u00a0identify\u00a0and develop a range of professional skills\u00a0appropriate to\u00a0the business or service context, to test out the suitability of types of work for them, to build confidence in the workplace, to apply their knowledge and to build professional networks.\u00a0 Through short placements our students can bring fresh perspectives and add value to work projects as well as helping you build long lasting relationships with the University.<\/p>\n<p><b>What are the courses involved?<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_xmsonormal\"><i>Architecture &amp; Architectural Technology \u2013\u00a0<\/i>BSC Architecture, BSc Architectural Technology<\/p>\n<p><b>When do they happen?<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_xmsonormal\"><i>Architecture &amp; Architectural Technology<\/i>\u00a0\u2013 Students can gain their experience at any point before the end of their final year.<\/p>\n<p><b>How do I apply?<\/b><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Please note: Our students are not fully qualified and do not carry Professional Indemnity insurance. \u00a0If you are submitting a project which you intend to progress to Planning Application, Building Regulations or construction based on the designs\/ideas developed by our students you would need to involve the services of a professional with the relevant insurance.\u00a0<\/strong> <\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_xmsonormal\">Please register your interest via the application form &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/unihub.shu.ac.uk\/Form.aspx?id=1313848\">https:\/\/unihub.shu.ac.uk\/Form.aspx?id=1313848<\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>Examples of previous placements\/types of placements required.<\/b><i><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>Architecture &amp; Architectural Technology \u2013 <\/i>We have enthusiastic final year Architecture and Architectural Technology students who can take on design, research, drawing, digital and physical modelling, surveying, site analysis, feasibility studies, fabrication, construction, teaching and education, support with funding applications\u2026.and much more!\u00a0 Students can work as individuals, in pairs, small or large groups depending on the nature of the project or placement. It all starts with identifying a meaningful piece of work for the student(s).
