The short placement window in level 5 is: 27/3/23 to 26/5/23  (the part time window is: 23/1/23 to 26/5/23) – deadline for them to secure placement is 24/11/22

200 hours over 6 weeks or equivalent for the part time period.

Sport courses are also looking to recruit hosts for a summer placement window – 16th May – 25th June.

Examples of previous placements

    • Assistant Coach
      • Assisting lead coaches in the delivery of tennis coaching shadowing coaches on 1-1 sessions spending time with admin staff to understand better the processes of our customer journey possibility of being given a project to help the business develop further
    • Performance Analysis Placement
      • Available for at least one day a week/two with home matches • Filming and capturing training throughout the week and home games on weekends • Helping the head analyst set up on match days • To learn and code training and games using analysis software • Work on mini projects reporting back on general areas of the game and training • Develop your skill set within performance analysis
    • Football Coach & Teaching Assistant
      • The role will entail working in the classroom supporting with theory work whilst also supporting with practical football delivery. The work in the classroom will be to support the main tutor and work with small intervention groups. The football delivery will involve work with larger groups, with some leading of sessions.
    • PE Teacher Placement
      • 1. To attend all timetabled lessons and support teaching staff as directed 2. To assist teaching staff in the preparation and planning of lessons 3. To comply with the school’s equal opportunities, health and safety, and safeguarding policies, and immediately alert staff to any concerns 4. To attend department/school meetings when requested 5. To role model professional and positive behaviours to pupils 6. To be courteous to staff, visitors and parents 7. To maintain staff and pupil confidentiality

Recruiting your student

The placement team here at SHU can help to recruit a student into the role you would like to offer. To do this we require:

  • A role description (submitted online) please select the appropriate link for (this needs to be completed by the 12th September):
      • School based roles
      • Non School based roles
  • The placement team will then advertise the role and shortlist the students for you using the following options:
    • OPTION A: SHU to advertise, shortlist and appoint the student
    • OPTION B: SHU to advertise and select a small selection of students for you, the placement host to interview
      • If you chose OPTION B the interviews need to take place between the 1st and the 5th of November. This is to allow the students to complete the required paperwork by their deadline.
