Away Days – External Venues

As outlined in the SHU Staff Entertaining Guidance Note, Away Days should be held on campus where possible. Where external venues are used, staff are encouraged to seek value for money and preferably use non-commercial venues such as church or community halls.

Below is a list of venues in and around Sheffield that provide value for money and that have been used and recommended by colleagues in the past.

Please note these are not formally endorsed by the University and staff should ensure any bookings are made in line with the Financial Regulations, Expenses Policy and Hospitality Policy (available here)

Commercial venues offering conferencing facilities include the local hotels, Cutlers Hall and Sheffield United football ground. If using these it is recommended staff seek an inclusive ‘day delegate’ rate as these offer better value for money.
