Located on Sheaf level 2, the MCAD labs are timetabled for teaching but are also open access for students.
We support students in Computer aided Design (CAD) to design a product idea as well as using industry standard Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) to test and simulate it. The CAD software tools are used to design, develop, modify and visualise products.
The CAE software tools are used to mathematically model physical attributes for example fractures, deformations, stresses, temperature distributions, vibrations, fluid flow, machining operations, etc. The technicians here provide specialist technical support in both hardware and software.
Each MCAD lab is also equipped with AV for online training and presentation.
