Welcome to Academic Essentials

This ‘one-stop-shop’ resource has been developed in response to feedback from academic colleagues and will provide easier, more coordinated access to information to help you do your job.  We’d like to take this opportunity to thank those of you who have contributed to the development of this comprehensive and valuable resource. Course and Module Delivery

1.Timeline Teaching and Learning activities

Following the academic calendar, we are developing a timeline of teaching and learning activities that occur across all modes of delivery, be that UG, PG, apprenticeship and collaborative and whether its a September or January start, standard or non-standard.

Originally created by Lucian Tipi, HoTL, BTE, we are working with some of our key stakeholders to include key areas of activity and we encourage course and module leaders to become part of this working group. If you are interested, please contact Natalie Brownell in the Academic Development & Diversity Team.

2.Course and Module Delivery

Running alongside the teaching and learning timeline, we are developing pedagogic guidance on best practice and resources to support all the elements of course and module delivery.   We are looking at structuring the content into 3 key areas;

  1. Before your course (module) starts;
  2. During course (module) delivery;
  3. Preparing for the end of your course (module).

Originally created by Beth Fielding-Lloyd, T&L Lead, Academy of Sports and Physical Activity, HWLS, we are working with some of our key stakeholders to include key areas of activity and delivery and we encourage course and module leaders to become part of this working group. If you are interested, please contact Natalie Brownell in the Academic Development & Diversity Team.

3. Planning and Delivery of Course Principles guidance is currently hosted on the Teaching Delivery website which is maintained by Brian Irwin and his Digital Learning Team. Elements of this resource can be found below and in the Hallam Resources A-Z page.
