Training

Chapter B5 of the Quality Assurance Agency’s UK Quality Code for Higher Education requires us to ‘ensure that student representatives … have access to training and ongoing support to equip them to fulfil their roles in educational enhancement and quality assurance’

The University and Students’ Union work together to provide face-to-face training for Student Reps, and are also developing online training.

Training sessions for Student Reps which are offered by the Students’ Union are detailed on the Students’ Union website.

Course Reps

All course reps are invited to an initial training session which is run by staff in their faculty with input from the Students’ Union.

Faculties and the Students’ Union have an agreed set of objectives for Course Representative induction training.

For more information about training dates and content, get in touch with your faculty contacts.

Further information about the course rep role is available in the Course Rep Handbook which is given out at the end of training sessions.

Department Reps

All department reps are invited to an initial training session which is run by staff from the Students’ Union. This is usually run on one day for the whole University. Some faculties also hold introductory meetings which enable department reps to get to know each other.

The department rep handbook is available on the Sheffield Hallam Students’ Union website
