Here at Hallam, we try to foster a diverse and supportive environment for all of our students. We are very proud of this and will continue working to make sure that Hallam is an open and inclusive place for you to study because we believe that “people perform better when they can be themselves.”

As part of our commitment to #SHUDiversity, we will be featuring some key national and international diversity events on our blog this year. We will also be reminding you of the support available to our diverse range of students here at Sheffield Hallam.

First up we have:
Bi Visibility Day: Celebrating Bisexuality every year on 23 September, since 1999

Bi Visibility Day, also known as International Celebrate Bisexuality Day, has been marked each year since 1999 to highlight biphobia and to help people find the bisexual community. You can take a look at events happening in the UK and around the world on the website.

What’s happening in Sheffield?
Sheffield is marking the day with its own event on Friday 22 September, 6pm to 7.30pm, Town Hall, Conference Room. This free talk and interactive workshop by Zeynab Peyghambarzadeh is about the experiences of bisexual and pansexual asylum seekers.
More details are available here.

How can I find out more about events like this?
Sheffield Hallam has an active LGBT+ Liberation Group who run various campaigns and social events which you are welcome to join. There is also information on useful contacts and support for LGBT+ students on our blog page.
