Whilst at Hallam there are many great opportunities to develop your employability, and the Careers and Employability Service is here to help you do just that. It is never too early to start researching your options and adding to your CV.

In your First year?  Planning early gives you plenty of time to decide what you want to do after graduation and ensure you have the skills and experience needed. Each degree course has its own named Employability Adviser from our service but you can also book in at our Careers and Employability Centre (or at Heart of Campus, Collegiate) for advice, guidance and to get help putting a CV together. Come along to our Work While You Study Fairs on Wed 4th October (City) and Thurs 5th October (Collegiate) 2017 to meet local employers keen to recruit Hallam students.

In the Second year? You may be considering a suitable placement or internship and further developing your job hunting and career management skills. Attend recruitment fairs, careers events and employer talks. Further develop your networks, build your online profile as well as your CV, and practice your interview & assessment centre skills. We can provide support with applications and interviews as well as offering guidance on the range of options open to you when you graduate.

The Final year? This is when it all comes together – you will be continuing to research your options (graduate jobs, PG study, self-employment etc.) and build your skills & experience. Meet graduate recruiters face to face; refine your CV and perfect your application, interview and assessment centre techniques. Take advantage of our nationally recognised Career Mentoring and  Career Impact schemes to boost your profile and remember we can provide support to you for up to 5 years after graduation.
