The Government has changed the way we register to vote from registering as a household to individual voter registration. If you don’t register under the new system your name will be removed on 1 December.
By registering you will ensure your right to vote. The voter numbers will be also used in the development of new parliamentary constituency boundaries.
Here’s what you need to do:
- Check if you are on the register by calling Sheffield Elections Office 0114 2734093
- If you’re not on the register you can register to vote online – it takes 5 minutes – and you’ll need your National Insurance number if you have one (if you are a student you can register at both your home address and your Sheffield address).
- Once you’re sorted, then get friends, family and house sharers to check as well.
- You can also download and print the register to vote form if you want to fill in a paper copy. Completed forms need to be posted to Elections Office, Sheffield City Council, Town Hall, Surrey Street, Sheffield S1 2HY (remember next Tuesday’s deadline though!) or can be handed in at the Town Hall main reception.
Don’t lose your vote!
