The theme will be ‘Choose to Disclose ‘ and students will be invited to consider disclosing their mental health difficulties to the University and to social contacts (see http://www.umhan.com/umhan-blog/i-chose-to-disclose-campaign for more information).  Students and staff will have the opportunity to share their own experiences in an informal setting, to hear from others and to find out about support that is available following disclosure, as well as having a cup of tea and a chat!  In addition we will be linking the day to Time to Change and Time to Talk day, which took place on 5th February, encouraging students and staff to consider how to have conversations about mental health and their own experiences of disclosure, as well as responding to others in a supportive way.

A Wellbeing Fair will be held in Hallam Hall on 18th February from 11am – 2pm with representatives from local services including Mind and Samaritans, HR and University support services.  Refreshments will be available as well activities including make a smoothie and sign up to your own individual pledge.  There will also be an information and activities session in the Heart of the Campus building on the same day.

In addition, there will be a workshop entitled ‘Disability, Disclosure and Careers: finding positive employers and gaining support’ (12.15 – 1.30pm in Surrey 5121). If you are concerned about disclosing a disability, including ‘hidden’ disabilities such as mental health, this workshop will help you to explore the pros and cons of disclosing, how and when to tell recruiters effectively and where to find resources and support to enhance your employability as a disabled student.
