Student Wellbeing Welcome Coffee Morning (26/09)

Student Wellbeing are holding awareness raising events throughout the year for various charities and causes which got off to a flying start a couple of weeks ago with our welcome coffee morning as part of Macmillan’s “World’s Biggest Coffee Morning”.

The purpose of the event was twofold – to raise money and awareness for Macmillan but also to raise awareness of our service to students and staff. So how did we do? We raised almost £100 for Macmillan and made information resources available to all those who came, as well as being privileged enough to hear about several individuals’ experiences.

We saw over 50 people over the course of the event (a combination of students and staff) and had some really great chats on a wide range of topics, cake being the start of most!

Encouraged by the success of the coffee morning, we are already well into planning for our next event – World Mental Health Day, which takes place on 10th October. For this event we will be running a stall on level 2 of the Atrium between 11am-2pm plus information stands at Student Wellbeing and in the Collegiate Learning Centre. At the Atrium stall we will be providing advice and tips on looking after your wellbeing as well as asking people “what makes you feel good?”, information on the other events that are happening in Sheffield for WMHD and last but certainly not least, the chance for staff and students to get active on our smoothie bike!
