There were 1,356 hate offences committed of which:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: circle\">\n<li>68% were related to race<\/li>\n<li>14% sexual orientation<\/li>\n<li>8% disability<\/li>\n<li>6% religious<\/li>\n<li>5% transgender<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"markup sc-kEmuub jIiYFG\">\n<p>The report\u00a0 was written by Maxine Stavrianakos who is the Head of Neighbourhood Intervention and Tenant Support for Sheffield City Council. The full report can be read here:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.shu.ac.uk\/standingtogethershu\/files\/2020\/02\/Hate-Crime-Presentation-V4.pdf\">Hate Crime Presentation V4<\/a><\/p>\n<p>As the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thestar.co.uk\/news\/crime\/number-reported-hate-crimes-sheffield-increases-1556584?fbclid=IwAR2XcLJMg-J7NfBnZVyYkZXGXH63aMU8FmHbLaXSwvKtMgYQNnEIW5pjCh8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sheffield Star<\/a> reported:<\/p>\n<div class=\"markup sc-kEmuub jIiYFG\">\n<p>Giving possible reasons for the rise, the report adds: \u201cIncreases are likely to have been driven by crime recording improvements by the police. However, growing awareness of what constitutes a hate crime may also have impacted on the number of recorded offences.
