{"id":445,"date":"2018-11-23T23:07:49","date_gmt":"2018-11-23T23:07:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.shu.ac.uk\/standingtogethershu\/?p=445"},"modified":"2020-01-26T23:08:50","modified_gmt":"2020-01-26T23:08:50","slug":"sex-gender-and-sexuality","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.shu.ac.uk\/standingtogethershu\/2018\/11\/23\/sex-gender-and-sexuality\/","title":{"rendered":"Sex, Gender and Sexuality"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>What Were You Wearing?<\/h2>\n<p>&#8216;What Were You Wearing?&#8217; is an art installation that originated at the University of Arkansas in the United States.\u00a0 We sought permission from Dr Jen Brockman to host the exhibition here at Sheffield Hallam, and have had pop-up events in the HUBS, in student halls of residence, and, as part of Sexual Violence Awareness Week\u00a0 in December 2018, we moved the exhibition to a number of different university main spaces.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_293\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.shu.ac.uk\/standingtogethershu\/files\/2019\/03\/IMG_1923.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-293\" class=\" wp-image-293\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.shu.ac.uk\/standingtogethershu\/files\/2019\/03\/IMG_1923-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.shu.ac.uk\/standingtogethershu\/files\/2019\/03\/IMG_1923-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.shu.ac.uk\/standingtogethershu\/files\/2019\/03\/IMG_1923.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-293\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">&#8216;What Were You Wearing?&#8217; at the HUBS.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The installation is made up of a series of outfits inspired by survivor\u00a0 accounts of sexual assault, and provokes questions about how victims can be blamed for being on the receiving end of violence.\u00a0 The University of Kansas now hosts a <a href=\"https:\/\/sapec.ku.edu\/what-were-you-wearing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">web page<\/a> dedicated to this art exhibition so do visit it to find out more about the origins and the reach of this work.<\/p>\n<p>We continue to host this display at relevant events, so if you are interested in seeing it or would like us to bring it to a session that you are hosting, please contact Jill LeBihan on j.lebihan@shu.ac.uk.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What Were You Wearing?
