Training/Opportunities: July

Refugee mentoring scheme

Sheffield Hallam University, in partnership with Voluntary Action Sheffield (VAS), have been working together to run a small refugee mentoring scheme.

The mentor-mentee link is made for six months (and continued after that if both are happy to agree) with a suggested meeting on campus of every fortnight – usually for a coffee and chat. If you are interested in becoming a mentor, please email Jacqueline Stevenson by 5 July 2019.

Clearing volunteers needed

The clearing operation is a critical part of our recruitment activity and the team are looking for University-wide staff to volunteer to be a part of the call centre operation.
Training will be provided and you must be able to work on Thursday 15 August 2019 from 6:30am – 6.30pm, with some flexibility of start/finish times subject to call volumes.
All staff must seek line manager approval prior to putting your name forward as you will need to be released from your normal role for up to 2 days (training and 15 August). You can volunteer to be part of the team by emailing clearing@shu.ac.uk including your name, team/department and training date preference, details of which, along with further information, can be found here. You will need to do this by Friday 19 July.
