Training and Opportunities: October

Grow MedTech Partnership Funding

As part of our ambition to enable healthier lives, Hallam joined the Grow MedTech partnership last year. The partnership supports academics to develop new medical technologies through providing funding and guidance. It has just released its Pump Prime Funding Competition with £10,000 available to develop a medical technology device. Those research teams who are shortlisted will have the opportunity to pitch their idea to a panel at the Growing MedTech Translation 2019 conference on 6 December 2019. The deadline for applications is 11 October.

Doctorate in Education

A reminder that the closing date for the next cohort of the Doctorate in Education is approaching.

The application process includes the submission of a research proposal (maximum 1500 words). This initial proposal will set out the intended area of study, guiding your work during the early stages of the course.  As you develop your proposal please consider how your proposed research aligns with the research interests of the Sheffield Institute of Education. Contact Gill Adams (Course leader) with any questions.

The closing date for applications is 14 October 2019 at 5 pm.

Twinkl world record attempt

Teams from Twinkl in Sheffield have organised a world-record attempt and they are looking for people from across Sheffield to get involved.

The record they are planning to break is for the most people in a singing relay. This is where each person sings one word of a song: the first person sings the first word, the person next to them the second, and so on, until the song finishes.

The songs will be well-loved nursery rhymes.

Twinkl is the Official Education Partner of BBC Children in Need and we are planning to break this record in order to raise money and awareness of the charity and the projects it supports to help children and young people.

As well as involving the Twinkl team, we are inviting members of the local community to take part. That’s where you come in…

The Guinness World Record attempt will be taking place at 9.45am on Thursday 7th November 2019 at the Crucible Theatre.

How can you get involved? The first step is to register yourself and your team.

If you’re interested in getting involved, please fill in this form to register your interest by Wednesday 2nd October. Please include the number of people planning to take part. I will then send you more information about the next steps.
