Politics students from Sheffield Hallam and The University of Sheffield held an outreach event in Gleadless Valley to find out what residents think about Britain’s EU Exit and the issues affecting them locally. The event was featured by The Star here. 

 

Dr Andy Price, Head of Politics, spoke to BBC 5 Live talking about the latest Brexit developments. You can here the interview here.

 

 

Professor Sam Twisleton, Director of Sheffield Institute of Education. took part in a panel discussing mental health and wellbeing in the teaching workforce. You can watch a video of the discussion on TES.com.

 

Professor Sam Twisleton was also featured in Schools Week where she spoke about the importance of teachers having proficient skills in writing, research and reflection. It comes amid concerns that too many teachers are gaining qualified teacher status (QTS) through an assessment-only route.

Professor Ann Macaskill, professor of health psychology, spoke to BBC news about about a recent poll, which found that child abuse is seen as unforgivable by more people than murder.

 

 

Dr Jake Philips, senior criminology lecturer, spoke to BBC News Online on the rise of the number of people dying while on probation in England and Wales – which has increased by almost a third in three years. Dr Phillips also spoke to Hallam FM, with his comments used on news bulletins throughout the                                                                             morning.

Simon Kincaid, senior lecturer in building surveying, spoke to various media outlets  in the aftermath of the fire at Notre Dame cathedral in Paris. He took part in a live discussion on BBC News 24 as well as speaking to Hallam FM, BBC Radio Sheffield [09:45] and Wired. Simon speaks about the significance of fire crews acting swiftly and the future of Notre Dame as focus turns to re-building the landmark.

James Grace, senior lecturer in law, wrote a guest blog for TechUK where he analysed the police use of technology in relation to privacy rights.

 

 

Dr Martin Thirkettle, lecturer in psychology, was involved in a project about ID parades being affected by background colour which was featured by AlphaGalileo.
