Autism awareness week

‘We Are Hallam’ featured the work that SIoE have been doing with Autism research in their Week in Focus from 1 – 5 April. The articles featured The Autism Centre, the autism learning resource, research projects, pod casts talking about autistic children’s school experiences as well as myths about autistic people in the work place.

Project to improve speech and language development

Sheffield Hallam University has joined forces with the South Yorkshire’s four local authorities to reshape early years speech and language services in a bid to improve communications and language skills among the under-fives. The University’s social mobility partnership, South Yorkshire Futures, will lead the new £1 million project along with Doncaster Council. It is being funded by the Department for Education. The partnership will review existing services to see how they currently assess children’s language and speech skills and gather data. They will then look at how current systems could be improved to provide the best support for children and families.

Festival of Education
