Problems with the Government’s Civil Society Strategy?

A team of SSH researchers, including Jon Dean (PSP), Rob Macmillan, Ellen Bennett, Chris Damm, and Chris Dayson (CRESR), and Tracey Coule from Sheffield Business School, have worked together to publish an article reviewing the UK Civil Society Strategy published in 2018. The authors’ work critiques the strategy’s positioning of charity within civil society, with charities potentially finding themselves in a role they arguably should not be fulfilling, substituting for government or attempting to address the impact of financial, social and European policies. Published in Voluntary Sector Review, the article is available here.
