 7 challenges in 7 months

Dr Alexandra Savage, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Natural and Built Environment, successfully completed 7 challenges in 7 months on 21st September. Alexandra lost her mother quite suddenly last autumn to piritoneal cancer; and wanted to raise funds for Cancer Research in the hope that other families will at least have more time, if not a cure in the future.

In January Alexandra started running having not donned trainers for a fair few years! Cycling is her go to sport, but she wanted something that was a proper challenge and didn’t feel asking for funds to ride her beloved bike was really fair! Alexandra’s fund raising efforts included:

Swimming 2.5 km as part of Swimathon 2019;

Running 4 half marathons: Sheffield, Leeds, the Great North Run and Dublin.

Running in the Scarborough 10k Race for Life and

Cycling 63 miles through the worst weather Wales could rummage up as part of the Welsh Wild West sportive around the hills of Aberystwyth.
