If These Walls Could Talk

Yvonne Battle-Felton, Lecturer in Creative Writing and Creative Industries, is co-hosting a ‘celebrating words’ event at the Victoria Baths in Manchester on Sunday 9 June 2019.

The activity Yvonne is hosting is called If These Walls Could Talk. It’s an opportunity for people to share their true stories about the Victoria Baths (as visitors, current/former employees, employers, volunteers, neighbours) from within the walls of Victoria Baths.

All are welcome to contribute a story and/or come. Further information about the event can be found here.

Borrowers and Lenders: The Journal of Shakespeare and Appropriation

The new special issue of Borrowers and Lenders: The Journal of Shakespeare and Appropriation, guest-edited by Lisa Hopkins, is on ‘Shakespeare Across Time and Space’ and features essays by Janice Wardle, a current PhD student and Andrew Duxfield, a former student as well an essay by Domenico Lovascio who was formerly a visiting scholar at Sheffield Hallam University.

 

Global Perspectives in Comics Studies

Dr Harriet Earle has recently been appointed as the series editor for a new Routledge series; Global perspectives on Comics studies. See here for more information about the what the series will include.

 

Everybody’s Talking About Jamie

Rehearsals for the Warp Films film production of the Sheffield Theatres/West End musical Everybody’s Talking About Jamie are due to start soon in the Performance Lab, the Stage and Screen’s dedicated performance studio here at Sheffield Hallam. The writer, director and musical director were all awarded Honorary Doctorates at Hallam last November so have strong links to the University. Watch this space for the possibility of some work as an extra on the film!
