Yvonne Battle-Felton joined the faculty in January and has already made headlines within the University for her nomination for the longlist for Women’s fiction with her recently released book ‘Remembered.’ You can find out more  about the exciting plans Yvonne has and the work that she has been doing so far here when she was interviewed as part of Faculty in Focus here.

 

 

Performance artist and researcher Dani Abulhawa has been talking about a research project she initiated where she helped set up a large skatepark in Nablus, Palestine.

‘It was the beginning of an ongoing research project into the work of the charity, and the effects of skateboarding on the lives of young people and local communities in this complex political climate and fascinating social landscape’

Dani’s video of ‘skateboarding in a war zone’ offers an insight her research project and the impact the skate park has had on young people’s lives in the area.

Lisa Hopkins, Professor of English and Head of the Graduate School,  and Aidan Norrie, a PhD student from the University of Warwick,  have co-edited a collection of essays called Women on the Edge in Early Modern Europe. Lisa’s essay focuses on Arabella Stuart, the granddaughter of  Bess of Hardwick, whilst the remaining essays offer insight into a wide range of women from different countries and with very different lives.
