Helena Kennedy Centre for International Justice round table discussion on ‘Emotional Labour’

The Department of Law and Criminology will be hosting an event sponsored by the Helena Kennedy Centre for International Justice in which we will be welcoming Professor Sharon Mastracci and  Ian Adams from the University of Utah.

Sharon Mastracci is a Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Utah (USA). She researches emotional labour in public service and is interested in the effective turn in the study of workers in public organisations. She was a 2014-2015 Fulbright Scholar to the University of Birmingham (UK).

Ian Adams is a PhD student in the Department of Political Science at the University of Utah. His research interests centre on emotional labour, policing, and body-worn cameras. Prior to his academic work, he spent over a decade as an officer in U.S. law enforcement.

Sharon and Ian will be joined by a number of Sheffield Hallam University staff who also research in the area of emotional labour and emotions and a brief overview of some of this research will be presented following Sharon and Ian’s presentations.

The event will take place on Monday 18 March 2019 3.30 pm-5.30 pm at the Charles Street building, Room 12.4.19
