As part of Off the Shelf 2019, the Performance Lab will be hosting some of the events which are as follows:

  • Wold renowned playwright and Hon Doc, John Godber, will be talking about his career on Wednesday 9 October. This will be accompanied by a performance of one of his earlier shows, September in the Rain, performed by two recent graduates of Performance for Stage & Screen- Tuesday 2, Wednesday 3 and Thursday 4 October.   • Sheffield- based theatre Company Third Angel will be launching their new book (featuring three of their plays) with an ‘in conversation’ with the Guardian theatre critic Lyn Gardiner on Monday 14 October. You can get your tickets here. 

 

  • Sat, 19 October 7:30pm Join 1623 theatre company for a celebration of Black British voices. Sheffield born artist Lauren Nicole Whitter performs her new show-in-development, Othello’s Sister, alongside community storytelling, to explore what it means to be BlackBritish and female. Tickets available here. 

 

 

 


  • Sheffield’s anarcho-nihilist theatre makers, Dopplegangster (run by Performance lecturer Tom Payne), are making a new piece of work with SHU Performance students about pollution, called Choke Me, which will be performed on Wednesday 23- Saturday 26 October.
