Quality Assurance of Continuing Professional Development

Dr Emily Perry, Professor Mark Boylan and  Dr Josephine Booth, of Sheffield Institute of Education, recently carried out a review of the evidence around the existence and role of quality assurance for professional development in teaching and in other professions, in England and internationally.  The review formed part of a scoping study funded by the Wellcome Trust and the Education Endowment Foundation, delivered in partnership with the Chartered College of Teaching and the Teacher Development Trust.

The full report from the evidence review is now published on the Wellcome Trust’s website.

The findings of the review are being used to inform Wellcome and EEF’s next steps, including influencing the Department for Education’s ongoing policy work around quality in teacher professional development.
