Additional annual leave and loyalty awards update

The University has introduced two new developments in support of the Hallam Deal:

Additional annual leave- Sheffield Hallam University is committed to supporting employees to achieve a healthy balance between their work and personal lives, and employees can now request to buy up to 15 days additional leave (previously 10 days) each year (pro-rata for part time employees), subject to agreement with their line manager.

Further information can be accessed here.

Loyalty awards- The University is introducing a new set of loyalty awards to                        replace the current Long Service Awards:

  • 15 years’ service- 1 extra days annual leave
  • 20 years’ service- 3 extra days annual leave
  • 25 years’ service- 5 extra days annual leave and an invitation to a lunchtime celebration event with members of the University Leadership Team and the Board of Governors

The additional leave is one off and must be taken in the annual leave year that the service is achieved. If it is close to the end of the academic holiday year, academic staff will be able to carry the leave over in the 19/20 leave year. The leave wont be paid on leaving the University and unfortunately it cant be backdated to anyone who has already achieved these milestones. HR will be contacting employees and their managers who qualify for the additional leave shortly.

As part of the new Loyalty Awards, the University will also be publicising more widely the achievements of colleagues who have achieved 25 years’ service in particular.
