Specialist Study Skills

All of The Skills Centre workshops, forums and drop-ins in our What’s On section are available to all students, but if you have a learning difference like dyslexia, a disability or you find group sessions are not for you, then our one-to-ones may be a particularly good place to start. These one-to-one tutorials can help you learn how to study effectively, get organised and improve your academic skills and confidence, You can discuss your learning needs with a tutor, develop your skills, and find out where to access further support.

We have a team of qualified teachers, with a range of experience at all levels of study.  Many of us have experience in supporting students with a range of different learning difficulties and disabilities. In addition, two tutors hold the Professional Certificate in Structured Teaching Intervention in Dyslexia and Literacy.  These tutors are shown as ‘Specialist Study Skills’ in UniHub.

The Assistive Technology Service also runs workshops on using tools to support your study including text-to-speech and mind mapping software.
