Skills Development Sessions

You can improve your academic study skills through a range of sessions at both Adsetts and Collegiate Libraries:

Our interactive workshops cover skills such as academic writing, referencing, time management, and presentations and include practical tips and strategies. Most of the workshop topics can be accessed remotely via webinars instead.

Our small group forums are for up to 4 participants and offer an opportunity for you to discuss work and study skills alongside other students, with the guidance of a Learning Advisor. Giving and receiving feedback to other participants can help you to consider new strategies.

Thirty minute 1-1s for when you’re not sure where to start or if group sessions aren’t for you. Our Learning Advisors can work with you to identify and develop your skills, and be confident and independent in your academic work.

You can check out the full list of our workshop topics and forum topics, or follow the options above to find out about forthcoming sessions.

For referencing help see the library’s referencing guide and for finding sources for assignments see SearchStart. If you need further help with referencing or finding sources, then please contact Hallam Help as they can forward a query to relevant Librarians.

Other opportunities are provided by Mathematics and Statistics Support, Assistive Technology, the University English Scheme, and by Sheffield Hallam Students’ Union.
