Welcome to the Skills Centre in autumn 2019!

Hello and welcome!  Please explore our website to find our free academic development opportunities. Students say that what we offer is helpful to them – for example, here’s a recent comment:I found the webinar last night really helpful …your guidance from the webinar has helped boost my confidence’ (Lia, Level 6, Psychology student).

And we’ve made several changes ready for this new academic year. One major development is the new Skillscheck – whatever academic year you are in, you can take the Skillscheck to kick-start your academic skills development this year and get personalised recommendations and resources.

We’ve also tweaked our appointments and drop-ins in response to our feedback from students, so our 1-1 appointments will now be bookable in advance, whilst we’ll also now be offering ‘quick-query’ drop-ins of up to 15 minutes available daily in different locations across the campus.

You can check our new What’s On guide to find out when everything is happening, and follow us on Twitter @HallamSkills for regular updates.

If you haven’t attended any Skills Centre sessions before, we look forward to meeting you for the first time. Our sessions on campus are offered mainly at Adsetts and Collegiate Libraries (see our  Finding the Skills Centre for maps and photographs that can help you how to find our sessions).

Also, as the comment above from Lia illustrates, we also offer webinars as well as face to face workshops, so you can attend remotely, and we offer telephone appointments as well as face to face 1-1s, for those times when logistics or your own preferences mean that a telephone appointment will suit you better.
