Meet Ana Yousaf, a dedicated Senior Administrator whose career at the University spans a wide range of roles supporting both students and academic colleagues. With experience in student-facing positions as well as administrative work, Ana brings an understanding of student needs and the importance of delivering an exceptional service. Her academic background includes an LLB, the Legal Practice Course (LPC), and a Professional Diploma in Forensic Criminology, demonstrating her commitment to ethical and social justice frameworks.
In her role within Student Records and Assessment, Ana finds purpose in supporting students through the stages of their academic journey. Being part of a team that directly contributes to student success makes her work especially meaningful.
As an advocate for equity, Ana believes in creating environments where individuals feel respected, valued, and able to participate fully. For her, equity and inclusion are about recognising differences and ensuring that processes are fair and accessible for all.
Outside of work, Ana enjoys spending quality time with family, discovering new places, creative pursuits like reading and taking part in charitable community initiatives whenever possible.
Alan Kalule (He/Him)

Meet Alan Kalule, a dedicated Facilities Manager leading the Security Team at Sheffield Hallam University. Alan has a background in leadership, compliance, and operational excellence, he is dedicated to promoting an inclusive, and supportive environment for all staff, and students
He is a passionate advocate for equity, diversity, and inclusion, and also serves as Co-Chair of the University Staff Race Network. His work challenges inequality, ensuring fair access to opportunities for ethnically minoritised colleagues.
Outside of work, he supports his local community by offering tax and immigration advice, reflecting his commitment to equity and empowerment. In his downtime, he enjoys cooking and unwinding with a good (and gloriously over-the-top) Bollywood film.
Ifrah Salih (She/Her)

Ifrah Salih is a registered nurse specialising in gynaecology, women’s health, and pregnancy-related conditions. She joined Sheffield Hallam in 2016 on a clinical secondment and secured a permanent role in 2017. After several years in the Nursing team, she moved to the Academic Development and Inclusion team in 2021, where she championed race equity and staff development.
Among her key contributions are the creation of the university’s first Minoritised Student Group and the development of the Equity Accomplice programme. In 2024, she returned to the School of Health and Social Care as Associate Head, now serving as the professional lead for mental health nursing.
Ifrah is passionate about creating inclusive environments through anti-racist practice, informed by both lived experience and academic research. Her doctoral work explores the experiences of ethnically minoritised student nurses using Critical Race Theory, with the aim of shaping more equitable transitions into higher education.
Outside of work, Ifrah is a proud parent of two young adult daughters and a lifelong football enthusiast. After managing a Sheffield Wednesday Ladies team for nearly a decade, she now plays for a Rotherham-based team, something she would do every day if she could!
